President Trump’s State Visit to China: Meeting for Bilateral Talks

US President Donald Trump’s bilateral meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping will be held at the Great Hall of the People.

Upon his arrival, President Trump was greeted by President Xi, colorfully dressed troops, a 21 Gun Salute and children who were excitedly jumping and waving flags of the two countries.

This visit is very pivotal to both countries. As the US is making a play for China to condemn Iran at the United Nations in an upcoming resolution. The US is also calling for China to stop propping up the Russian and Iranian oil industries.

US Senator Lindsay Graham is holding legislation in hand to punish China if that country continues to buy oil from Iran and Russia.

President Trump in response to President Xi’s welcome stated that they two leaders have a fantastic relationship. He also added that he brought the heads of top companies to talk about trade and other related issues. He also traveled with key cabinet members.

The significance of this meeting cannot be overlooked as it comes after the COVID phenomenon which impacted the whole world in 2019, during President Trump’s first term in office. COVID 19 had significantly strained their relationship. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated seven million people died from COVID 19. Life expectancy was severely impacted, and other long-term effects are still being felt today.

This summit gives them the opportunity for a restart to work together, resolve global issues while working thru’ trade and other areas to further their national interests.
