President Trump’s State Visit to China Ends with Success
US President Donald Trump’s State Visit to China wrapped up on Friday May 15th.
Following Thursday’s lengthy bilateral meeting and State Banquet, the meetings continued on Friday with the two presidents doing a number of things together which served to enhance the climate for their talks.
The leaders of the two largest global economies, with the US and China accounting for at least 40 percent of the world’s GDP, stood together on the Iranian issues. Their agreement on Iran paved the way for other difficult issues to be handled with mutual respect.
On Friday they did the following:
· Participated in a bilateral working lunch
· Strolled together and participated in a friendship photo in the Zhongnanhai Garden
· President Trump and President Xi Jinping also participated in a Round Table discussion.
In closing, President Trump thanked President Xi for his kind hospitality and reflected that it’s been really a great couple of days. He added that he was very impressed with China. President Trump also described the US-China relations as very strong.
Furthermore, he noted that they made a lot of trade deals, settled different problems and discussed Iran. President Trump further emphasized that both himself and President Xi don’t want Iran to have a nuclear weapon and that they want the Strait of Hormuz reopened.
Announcements:
President Trump announced that President Xi was invited to visit the United States on September 24. He added that the Chinese visit to the United States will be reciprocal, just like trade was reciprocal.
China has pledged to purchase approximately 200 Boeing jets from the US.

President Trump returns to the United States quite satisfied with the achievements from his official visit to China.
